Rangers & Australian Surfboats
Two short video presentations in conjunction with Australian National Maritime Museum - two short film presentations for die-hard wooden boat fans.
Ian Smith - Building a new Ranger Class Gaff Sloop. Ian demonstrates his wealth of experience in boat building, sailing, wooden boat heritage and education while discussing the design and construction of his own Ranger Class sloop as the ideal boat for use on Sydney Harbour in retirement. He is author of several books including 'The Open Boat: the Origin Evolution and Construction of the Australian 18-Footer Britannia: 100 Years of a Sydney Icon'.
Kim Marsh - Australian Wooden Surfboats. Kim talks about the development of the Australian Surfboat and his collection of two wooden surfboats. Kim is a successful surfboat competitor who has always been passionate about the heritage and culture of his sport. In 2007 he wrote 'The Surfboat Book - the Complete Coaching Manual'.
